Ghana has met FIFA’s target which necessitates each member association to have its own House of Football by the year 2006.
On Thursday, a fully-furnished office complex was handed over to the Ghana Football Association to be used as the FA’s new headquarters in Accra.
The project financed from FIFA’s Goal II funds with additional sponsoring support from the Football Association was officially handed over to the FA by the site contractors.
The plush three-storey office complex has over seventeen office spaces and a spacious conference hall which can accommodate over a 100 people.
All FA operations would be run from the new office building.
FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi says the football association will maximize the utilization of the resources injected into the project by FIFA and ensure that the investment impact positively on the development of the game in the country.
Sector minister for sports, Papa Owusu-Ankomah, tasked the FA to ensure good maintenance of the facility.
Papa Owusu-Ankomah pledged government's commitment towards the development of soccer and sports in general.
The sports minister advised football clubs in the country to endeavour to emulate the success story of the Black Stars and rub shoulders with the best of the world.
"If the Stars are rubbing shoulders with the best in the world, the clubs must learn to do same.
"They must make it a duty to build their own offices and facilities to enable them compete at the highest level," he said.
Ghana complimented FIFA’s $400,000 Goal II funds with a $100,000 for the construction of the new office building.
The FIFA Goal Project is designed to assist underprivileged associations with the financial means to acquire decent offices, playing pitches, training centres and other facilities to develop the game.
It is intended that each member association will have its own House of Football by the year 2006.
Ghana met FIFA’s condition of approval for the second trunch of funds after completing the first Goal project - the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, which is fully operational.
