The chairman of Ghana’s Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 African Cup of Nations, Dr. Kofi Amoah has been appointed to serve on the Organizing Committee for African Cup of Nations by Confederation of African Football.
Dr. Amoah who crafted Ghana’s winning bid for hosting the most prestigious African Football fiesta is also guiding Ghana to host a successful tournament in 2008.
The sport governing body, earlier appointed Ghana FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi to serve on Organizing Committee for African Cup of Nations.
Dr. Amoah, a successful business executive and a former FA member joins Kwesi Nyantakyi to serve on CAF’s Organizing Committee for African Cup of Nations.
Both men and the other Ghana football administrators would serve on the various committees for a two-year period spanning 2006 to 2008.
Ghana, host of the 2008 African Cup of Nations thus have two personalities, Kwesi Nyantakyi and Dr. Kofi Amoah serving on the Organizing Committee for African Cup of Nations.
His appointment brings to six the number of Ghanaians serving on CAF Standing Committees. Ghanaian football legend, Abedi Ayew Pele was appointed to serve on CAF’s Football Committee.
Former Ghana Football Association general secretary, Worlanyo K. Agra has been assigned onto CAF’s Committee for Legal Affairs and Player Status.
Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula and Ben Koufie both former FA bosses have maintained their positions on CAF.
Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula holds his membership on the Organising Committee for Inter-Club Competitions while Ben Koufie continues to serve on the Technical and Development Committee.
The Ghana Football Association has congratulated Dr Kofi Amoah for his appointment onto CAF’s Organizing Committee for African Cup of Nations.
