Japan’s national coach, Ivica Osim says the international friendly game against Ghana is a good test to help check the standard of his team.
Both nations meet in the Kirin Challenge Cup 2006 friendly match at the Nissan stadium in Yokohama on Wednesday.
The 65-year-old Bosnia-born coach is hoping his side put up a spirited performance against the Black Stars.
“I know that all of our players are eager to play for the national team, but that doesn’t always mean you can win, as you still have to play the opposition.
“Ghana is good opposition for us to check our abilities against.
"You can learn how far you’ve come only when play against a strong side,” Osim said.
Ivica Osim on Sunday named a 20-man locally-based squad for the friendly against Ghana.
The Japanese began life under new coach Ivica Osim with a 2-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in August.
For Ghana, the game against Japan is the first for Claude Le Roy who was appointed Black Stars coach last month.
The Frenchman on Tuesday took got down to work as he conducted his first Black Stars training session at the match venue.
