The national under-20 side, the Black Satellites stumbled away in Ouagadougou losing 0-1 to the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso in the first leg tie of the final eliminator of the African Youth Championship qualifying campaign.
The home side scored in the 20 minute Issak Quedragou after he managed to beat Nana Bonsu in post for Ghana.
Opoku Agyemang came close to giving the Black Satellites the lead in the 7th minute of the first half but his shot at goal was blocked by the Burkinabe goalkeeper.
Ghana probed for the equalizer but only saw a goal disallowed for offside.
The first half ended with the home side holding onto their slim lead.
Back from recess, the Black Satellites attempted to find the back of the net but failed as the Burkinabes held their onto their lone goal lead from the first half to win on the day.
The return leg comes off in a fortnight in Obuasi.
The winner over both legs secures qualification for the 2007 African Youth Championship to be hosted by Congo.
