The club-versus-country row has been re-ignited after Gamba All Blacks officials claim that four of their players in the camp of the national under-20 team were not released for club duties.
The four, Isaac Vorsah, Baba Abdallah, Razak Issifu and Isaac Ackon failed to join their colleagues for game against Berekum Arsenals which ended 1-1 at the Swedru Park.
All four players are part of the Black Satellites squad preparing for the first leg game of the African Youth Championship qualifier against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou on October 1.
Gamba All Blacks chairman, George Afriyie says the action by the handlers of the Black Satellites has adverse effect on the teams league ambitions.
“The team is camping in Ghana so why wasn’t it possible to release the players for our league game.
“Playing in the league is much more competitive than staying in camp and not playing a serious match.” George Afriyie said.
Gamba All Blacks are requesting the services of the four players for Sunday’s away game against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Konongo Park.
“We are playing against Kotoko on Sunday. We are requesting that the players be allowed to play for us and afterwards return to the national camp,” the All Blacks chairman said.
