Accra Hearts of Oak appear to have shaken off their continental blues as they set their sights on the domestic title after an inspiring 2-1 win over Heart of Lions on Wednesday at the Kpando Park.
Hearts of Oak’s deputy coach Ato Hammond believes the club is regaining its confidence but admits they would have to work harder.
“Though we had an early goal, we didn’t play well.
“We still need to organise ourselves. It was very difficult.”
Hammond was convinced that club’s 600 million cedi signing, Eric Gawu, who finally broke his goal duck giving the Phobians the match winner is close to getting better.
“He needs confidence to score. Collectively, he’s been creating chances for the team.
“He’s coming back.”
The Phobians drew first blood through Stephen Ofei but Lion’s Stephen Owusu cancelled the lead through a penalty.
In the second half, Eric Gawu lashed onto a pass from Ruben Senyo to give the visitors the match winner at the Kpando Park.
The win has improved the Phobians standings on the league table after a poor start to the season.
