Real Tamale United’s hopes of landing Abdul Razak as coach remains on hold with the former national star expressing the desire to become an assistant to new Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy.
Razak, who arrived in Accra this week after winning another medal with Stade Malian in the Malian league, says the national job remains his target.
“I want to become the assistant for the Black Stars.
“I have so many offers in Mali. But I don’t want to go back to Mali, I have done all that there is to do there (Mali).
“I want fresh offers.
“It’s my intention, if the position (Black Stars) is vacant, I am ready for it,” Razak told Joy FM.
Real Tamale United were counting on the arrival of Abdul Razak from Mali to turn around the fortunes of the club in the OneTouch premiership.
The Pride of the North are third from bottom in the standings of the sixteen-club league after losing their season’s opener and drawing their second game to that earned them a point.
But the ‘Golden Boy’ of Ghana soccer says he would take a decision after new Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy reveals his plans for the senior national team.
However, Razak who has praised the selection process of FA in finding a successor to Ratomir Dujkovic says the Ghanaian populace have little confidence in the local coaches.
“Its a choice for the people at the top and the public.
“I think public still has no confidence in as yet.”
But he believes local coaches including him would have to continue working to land the job in future.
“If you have the job fine, if not, keep on working.”
Razak was an assistant in 2000 at senior the level during the term of Italian Guiseppe Dossena.
Abdul Razak was expected to have joined Real Tamale United after completing his term with Stade Malian in the Malian league season that was expected to have ended in June.
But the ‘Golden Boy’ has not taken his seat on the club’s bench.
However, Razak’s former boss at Kotoko, Malik Jabir who has also switched camp to RTU is hopeful the ‘Golden Boy’s’ arrival would completely turn around the club’s fortunes.
Abdul Razak had agreed in principle to coach RTU for the 2006/2007 season.
The ‘Golden Boy’ led Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a first ever league title in a decade in 2004, but he was unceremoniously bundled out of office after a change in management.
