The Division One League, the second tier in Ghana's soccer ladder, will commence on September 23 under the new league format approved at the last congress of the Ghana Football Association.
The new league format cuts down the number of matches to 12 per season.
According to a statement by Douglas Djarbeng, chairman of the Division One League Board, registration of players had opened and clubs have until September 22 to complete the first transfer window.
The statement said the league would go on a short Christmas break from December 16 to January 6, 2007.
It added that, the zoned league was expected to come to a close on January 13 with the Zonal Middle League fixed for 10th, 17th and 24th February 2007.
The statement urged participating clubs to take note of the arrangements and be guided by them accordingly.
In a related development, the Division One League Board has confirmed the relegation of the following clubs to division two.
They are Bolga Mighty Rocks, Bawku Wonderful Babies, Real Wa United and Wa Yellow Masters from Zone One.
Awaso Farisco Stars, KFC and Shama Parma from Zone Two.
From Zone Three are Juapong Juantex, Akye Techiman Istanbul FC and Ho Voradep.
Ten clubs have gained promotion from Division Two League to Division One League.
They are Bolgatanga United - Upper East, Wa All Stars - Upper West, Lepo Stars - Northern Region, Bechem United - Brong Ahafo and Cornerstones from the Ashanti Region.
The rest are Suhum FC 96 Eastern, Nsuta Manganese - Western, Mighty Jets - Volta, C.K. Gyamfi Academy - Central Region and Fair Point FC - from the Greater Accra Region.
