Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be seeking to win their second game and maintain their momentum in the Confederation of Africa Football Champions League when they take on African rivals, El-Ahly on Sunday at home.
The Porcupine Warriors who started the competition on a poor note after losing the first game against JS Kabylie of Algeria, revised their notes in their second game that saw them beating Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien .
However on Sunday, Asante Kotoko play continental rivals, Egyptian giants, El-Ahly at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.
Making their first appearance in the competition, a win for Kotoko on Sunday will enhance their chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
However, the Porcupine Warriors go into Sunday’s duel without Ghana international defender Shilla Illiasu who is on trials with English side, Arsenals.
Ahead of the renewal of hostilities Asante Kotoko coach Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie, aware of the pedigree of their opponents says the Porcupine Warriors would not take any chances.
“We are not going to take any chances, knowing very well the strength of our opponents”.
El-Ahly, who played their last match against JS Kabylie without some key players as a result of injury and suspension, will be coming into Sunday’s game with a full strength squad.
Kotoko have shown great invincibility at home in the continental campaign this season but the strength, power and ability of El-Ahly in Africa should be enough to inform Kotoko that they could be in for a tough battle.
