Ghana's Kumasi Asante Kotoko failed to beat Champions League holders, Al Ahly at home settling for a goalless draw game.
The two teams shared the points at stake on the day thus keeping both sides in contention for semi-final places.
Asante Kotoko could have secured a win over their continental rivals but poor finishing cost the Porcupine Warriors who dominated against an Egyptian side who looked tired on the day.
For Kotoko, Al Ahly's Egyptian international goalkeeper Essam Al Hadari denied them victory displaying fine form with some key saves.
In stoppage time, both sides had an opportunity to snatch a win, with Al Ahly's Angolan striker Flavio shooting across the face of goal from a tight angle with the Kotoko goalkeeper beaten.
Kotoko then caught their opponents with a quick counter-attack but an unmarked substitute, George Yamoah who received the ball at the back post hit the ball into the side net.
