Congress, the legislative body of the Ghana Football Association yesterday decided put to rest the discrepancies detected in the Auditor-General report of the FA in year 2001.
The issue in connection is the monies received by the GFA in 2000 during the organisation of the CAN 2000 hosted by Ghana/Nigeria as well as appearance fee for two international friendly games against Egypt and Greece by the Black Stars.
Members of the then administration were accussed of misappropriation of funds totalling $450,000 being funds from CAF and proceeds from two international friendly games against Egypt and Greece by the Black Stars.
By a majority decision of 54 votes against 10 and three abstentions, the chapter on the five-year old issue was finally closed.
FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi stated that the decision will pave the way for the football association to study other audit reports which has been with the association for years.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, also stated that it was not fair to hold persons responsible for acts committed in the national interest to task.
Other issues discussed at the first day of Congress included youth football, women football, development of infrastructure and the upgrading of the FA secretariat to meet the new trends in the game.
