Members of the senior national team, the Black Stars will be conferred with the nations highest civil award "Order of the Volta" for the spectacular performance at the World Cup.

The honour would be bestowed on the team at Ghana's seat of government, the Castle.

Ghana, was the only African nation to reach the second round of the World Cup where they lost out to defending champions Brazil in Dortmund, Germany.

Last Friday, Ghana's capital, Accra was thrown into a carnival mood following the arrival of the Black Stars from Germany.

The Black Stars arrived in the evening to a rousing welcome from thousands of fans who had gathered three hours prior to their arrival at the Kotoka International Airport.

The red, yellow with the black star and the green flags are still flying nationwide.

Ghana's vice president, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, ministers of State, members of the legislature, the diplomatic corps and heads of corporate institutions received the Black Stars.

The team was decorated with floral garlands.
