The Ghana Football Association has denied reports of any involvement in illegal sale of World Cup tickets in the ongoing.
A U.K based paper, The Observer has reported that hours before the Ghana-Czech Republic game on Saturday June 17, two men who were with the Ghana FA team were selling tickets stamped with the association’s name to fans, including Czechs and English, for 250 euro each instead of the original price of 35 euros.
The spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association Randy Abbey has dismissed the reports as ridiculous.
“I find it very ridiculous. As of now, no FA official has been arrested.
“If people who bought tickets from us are selling tickets on the black markets, that’s beyond us, though unfortunate.
“No member of our FA team has been picked up as has been reported.”
FIFA frowns on ticket profiteering at the World Cup and its competition and that action is also in violation of world governing body’s regulations.
The Observer news paper also reports that FIFA could open an inquiry to look into the case as the police moved in to question the suspects and took them away.
