Awuah Nyamekye, a member of the Emergency Committee of the Ghana Football Association has been appointed acting President of association.
A statement signed by the President of the Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi, who is currently away on official duty said the acting President's tenure of office starts from May 24 2005.
Kwesi Nyantakyi left Accra Tuesday night for Austria to join the senior national team, the Black Stars as they fine tune preparatiosn for the next month's World Cup in Germany.
From Austria, Kwesi Nyantakyi will leave for Germany to attend the FIFA Congress which is scheduled to come off from June 5-7 in Berlin, the capital of Germany.
Nyantakyi would be joined in Berlin by Fred Crentsil, another member of the Emergency Committee for the FIFA Congress.
Awuah Nyamekye's elevation was necessitated following the absence of four of the five-member Emergency Committee charged with the running of the association.
Mr Fred Pappoe, the Vice President who also doubles as the Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee is currently in Austria with Randy Abbey the FA Spokesperson whilst the last of the four.
The fourth, Fred Crenstil would be flying out for the FIFA Congress.
Mr Nyamekye is not new to the position as he was once the Chairman of the GFA from 1991-1992.
