Ghana international Ibrahim Salou playing with a protective mask following a cheekbone injury has helped club, KSV Waregem to clinch the Belgian Cup.
Salou could not find the back of the net but played the entire game for KSV Waregem as they capped off an excellent season by winning the title, defeating R. Excelsior Mouscron 2-1 at the Stade Roi Baudouin.
KSV Waregem won the title through a last-minute winner from Tim Matthys.
Newly-promoted KSV Waregem now have a major piece of silverware and a place in the UEFA Cup to add to their seventh-placed league finish but would be without Ibrahim Salou who is set to join Belgian first division side Club Brugge.
Salou was one of the players who was expected to have been given a trial invitation by Black Stars coach Ratomir Dujkovic before announcing Ghana’s World Cup squad on Friday.
But a month’s lay off due to a jaw injury delayed his debut for the Black Stars.
Salou broke his jaw during Zulte-Waregem's Belgian Cup semi-final.
