Ghana’s Michael Essien has helped Chelsea to a second successive Premiership title by beating Man Utd at Stamford Bridge.
The Black Stars midfielder starred in the 3-0 victory for the Blues as his side needed only a point to put the seal on another title triumph.
Essien joined Chelsea at the beginning of the season from French club, Olympique Lyon in a club record transfer deal reported to be worth 24 million pounds.
William Gallas' early header set The Blues on their way and a wonderful solo goal from Joe Cole, followed by a sweeping counter-attack finished by Ricardo Carvalho, earned the host a deserved second title.
Chelsea's title party started in earnest at the final whistle.
Essien now becomes the second Ghanaian international to win the league title with their clubs.
Eric Addo helped PSV Eirdhoven win the Eredivisie title in the Dutch league.
Stephen Appiah is also close to winning the Turkish Superlig title with Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce presently top the charts with three matches to go.
