Ghanaian international Derek Boateng is confident of securing a place in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup.
The former national under-20 star was refused permission by Swedish side, AIK Stockholm to feature for the Black Stars in Wednesday’s international friendly against German Bundesliga side, VFB Stuttgart.
Stockholm turned down Ghana’s request to have the midfielder play in the match due to club commitments.
But the Swedish club have promised to release Derek Boateng to play in the up coming games next month in Russia.
Boateng scored the first of AIK Stockholm’s three goals in their 3-1 derby win over Djurgarden yesterday.
"I hope I can get a spot in the world cup squad. It would be good for my career."
"I just talked to Baffoe. He said I played very good".
"I will get a chance in the next international friendly, I know that".
