Brentford striker, Lloyd Owusu’s hopes of making the Black Stars squad for the World Cup seem effectively over after he picked up an injury in Ghana’s 1-1 draw with German club VfB Stuttgart.
Owusu limped off after tearing a groin muscle and has been ruled out for six to eight weeks.
Owusu is not the only Ghanaian player down with an injury; Arminia Bielefeld's Isaac Boakye who captained the team also left the pitch with an injury, which is not thought to be too serious.
Club Brugge's new signing, Ibrahim Salou, who was considered for a call up, is also injured.
Salou is expected to be out for the next four weeks.
The friendly in Germany was part of Ghana's preparations for the World Cup finals in June.
Ghana, who begin their World Cup campaign on 12 June, opened the scoring midway through the second half with Germany-based Otto Addo on target.
Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson equalised for Stuttgart.
The game afforded Black Stars coach Ratomir Dujkovic the chance to consider some players who did not feature at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt earlier this year.
All 32 World Cup participating countries are expected to submit their squad list by May 15.
Ghana begin their World Cup campaign on June 12 against Italy.
