Relegated Ebusua Dwarfs waved goodbye to premiership action after losing the eight-goal thriller game to Power FC in the Knockout competition.
Dwarfs who took the lead were given a rude shock by Power FC who rallied back to win the game 6-2 at the Tema Park.
At the Kpando Park, German coach Peter Voullmann’s tenure as coach of Real Tamale United got off to a bad start.
RTU were beaten 4-1 by Heart of Lions.
Kade Hotspurs, another relegated premier side were kicked out of the competition by Bofoakwa Tano at Kade Park.
Both teams settled for a 1-1 draw game before Bofoakwa edged out Hotspurs 5-3 on penalties.
At the Nkawkaw Park, Sekondi Hasaacas beat home side, Okwawu United 1-0.
Winners of Wednesday’s round of matches advance to the next stage of the competition where they take on Liberty Professionals, Feyenoord, AshantiGold and Real Sportive in the second week.
The top four finishers for last season - Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, King Faisal and Berekum Arsenals- will join the action later at the quarterfinal stage on April 30.
The Knockout competition sponsored by OneTouch is expected to keep the clubs active as they await the commencement of the league season.
