The Ghana Football Association is determined to provide the police with the necessary assistance in their investigations into the International Transfer Certificate fraud involving a self-styled football agent, Sammy Ali.
The FA has already furnished the Madina Police with a written statement to substantiate fraud claims against Ali who is believed to have issued fake ITCs for the transfer of some four Ghanaian players to clubs in Austria and Slovakia.
Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, says the federation would pursue the matter to as far as the law courts.
‘The GFA received no money for the transfer of these players and never issued any ITC for these transfers, so it raises serious questions.’
Some transfers in recent times have been shrouded in so much controversy, one being Shilla Alhassan’s illegal transfer from Kotoko to Gabon.
Kwesi Nyantakyi says the FA believes Sammy Ali could be behind all these illegal transfers.
‘The FA suspects it’s the same person who is the mastermind of these scams and if the evidence incontrovertibly points to him, then he should be arraigned before court and prosecuted.’
According to the Ghanaian FA, it received an enquiry from the Slovakian FA about an ITC purportedly issued by the GFA.
The certificate in question had been issued on a form which FIFA doesn’t use anymore.
