Kaiser Chiefs’ striker Louis Agyemang stands the chance of winning $6,500 (R40, 000) if he manages stay top of the goal charts in the ABSA Cup competition.
The Ghanaian international who currently tops the goal chart in the competition with four goals would be in the Chiefs starting line up on Saturday when they play the Black Leopards.
Chiefs would be looking to beat the Leopards and book a place in the semi-finals.
But Louis Agyemang is playing down the cash prize he stands to win and says he is not seeking personal glory.
“Should I score more goals - that will be fine, if I am in a position to lay off a ball to someone else in a better scoring position, it will only be correct of me to put the teams interest first and lay off the ball to the other guy” said Agyemang.
And Louis chooses to remain focused and finish off the Leopards job first.
“We learnt from our game against City Pillars that we need to be focused on whoever we come up against and cannot take anyone for our opponents for granted.”
Louis Agyemang believes this is their chance to salvage something from a season that turned bad.
"Our league fate is no longer in our hands and while and the title is still to be won and lost, we will be giving everything into the cup game this weekend.
"We have to atone for failing ourselves and leaving it to others to do it for us. We have not beaten Leopards twice this season and that proves the calibre of a team they are. "They were unfortunate against Pirates and we are bracing ourselves for a tough match. I fancy our chances, though." Beating Leopards, Louis says would be a belated birthday present after he turned 23 last Sunday.
The striker with rare technical skills said he has yet to play to his full potential because he was still adapting to the Chiefs style of play.
"I scored regularly for Accra Hearts of Oak and the Ghana national team before I joined Chiefs.
It has been a slow start here, but things are shaping up well for me now as I am getting used to the new environment," he added.
