Ghana, have lined up two new international friendly matches against Turkey and Jamaica in the month of May.
The FA this month cancelled a planned international friendly slated for the end of this month against Iran because of the inability to raise a full-strength squad for the game.
The Ghana Football Association is making frantic efforts to firm up arrangements on some preparatory matches for the senior national team as they prepare for ahead of the World Cup campaign in Germany.
Ghana has had to make a few adjustments to its original preparatory schedule for the Black Stars following FIFA’s refusal to extend the time for the submission of final squad lists for the World Cup finals.
Randy Abbey, spokesman for the federation, says Ghana would have to rely on some trial matches with international clubs before submitting her final squad considering the fact that it would be difficult to secure a date with any national team before the FIFA deadline.
“We have confirmed two games in May. The 26th of May, a game against Turkey in Germany and then the 29th of May, a game against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in London and then ofcourse the 4th June game against South Korea in Glasgow, Scotland.
“What we are trying to do now in view of the FIFA directive is to get a couple of Bundesliga sides to give us two matches in the first and fourth week of April so that we can continue with our observation and monitoring of our players in real match situation before we submit our final list on the 15th May.
“It would be difficult to get national teams to play in April, so we are still trying to arrange so that we can get some Bundesliga sides to give us two matches.
“The response is been favourable so we hope that we would be able to firm those things up by the close of next week so that we can have those two matches, submit our final list so we concentrate and play this three matches before we start our campaign in June.”
Ghana’s Black Stars would be based in the Portuguese town of Faro ahead of the world cup finals.
The Black Stars last camped in Faro in 1992 before the Cup of Nations in Senegal.
Ghana are drawn in Group E, with the Czech Republic, Italy and the United States, for the month-long tournament which begins on 9 June.
