The Ghana Football Association says it is resolved to appeal an unprecedented four-match ban imposed on Laryea Kingston by the Confederation of African Football at the International Court of Arbitration for Sports.
An earlier appeal attempt by the GFA was foiled by CAF on claims that it was delayed.
But FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, says the federation intends to go the extra mile to ensure that the Locomotiv Moscow player makes the Black Stars squad for the World Cup finals in Germany.
“FIFA has confirmed to us that CAF has advised of two players from Africa, one from Togo and another from Ghana-Laryea Kingston from Ghana who have been suspended from the first three matches at the world cup.
“We have indicated that upon the failure of CAF to uphold our appeal against the ban, we intend to take the matter a step higher.
“We would take it up at the next level which is the International Court of Arbitration for Sports thus the judicial remedy we can pursue.”
“We cannot write it off intoto. There’s still a window of opportunity for us to try and seek an attempt to overturn the ban and if that attempt is successful, it means that he would be available for Ghana at the World Cup.
In a related development, former African Footballer of the Year Abedi Pele will plead with football’s world governing body, FIFA, today to allow Kingston feature at the World Cup finals for Ghana.
If the ban is not reversed or reduced, Kingston may not play a single game at this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
The sanction, if not overturned, would mean that Laryea Kingston will miss all of Ghana's group games at the summer finals.
