The Board of Directors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has shelved plans to name the club’s new chief executive officer today, according to media reports.
After a few postponements the board was expected to announce the candidate for the position today.
But the secretary to the Kotoko board, Kwame Boafo, told Joy Sports a while ago that the announcement would now be made on Saturday.
According to Mr Boafo, the board would hold marathon meetings on Friday and Saturday before naming the new CEO.
The three frontrunners for the job, Jerry Asare, Alhaji Injie and Sylvester Asare Owusu are reportedly in Kumasi awaiting the big announcement.
The position of chief executive officer at the club has been vacant since the exit of Major (rtd) Yaw Larson.
Sources close to the club say Alhaji Ejee, chairman of the club’s interim management team, has the backing of Manhyia, owners of the club while Jerry Asare has the seal of the board of directors.
Former chairman Sylvester Asare Owusu is believed to be the favourite of the club’s support base in Kumasi.
