Black Stars striker Matthew Amoah says he is ready to lead struggling Borrusia Dortmund’s attack against Mainz tomorrow.
Amoah has not played for his new club since his move in January due to a knee injury he picked up at the African Cup of Nations.
Dortmund however remain uncertain about the Ghanaian’s fitness for the Mainz game after he complained of pains in his knee yesterday.
In an interview with the Bild, a local newspaper, Amoah stated that he hopes to get a place in the team to face Otto Addo’s Mainz after training for the first time on Tuesday.
Amoah is reported as saying: “I feel no pressure and since I don’t understand any German I have no idea what is being said about me.
"But I know what I can do, yes I’m a goal scorer, I am fast and can head the ball fairly well. And I can also play behind the strikers.”
Dortmund coach Bert van Marwijk is backing his Ghanaian signing to come out good in the team’s remaining matches in the Bundesliga.
“He "would have scored once or twice in each of our recent matches."
