Elvis Hammond, a 25-year-old Ghanaian born striker says he’s looking forward to making a huge impact in Ghana’s upcoming friendly against Mexico.
Hammond who plays for Leicester City in the English first division was called up last week after it became apparent that Isaac Boakye might not be available for the midweek clash with the Mexicans in the U.S.
A product of Fulham's Youth Academy, Elvis Hammond has had several loan spells in Holland and Norwich City in England.
The natural winger who prefers the striking role made his breakthrough in the Premiership in the 2002-03 season and two years after is knocking on Ghana’s door for a world cup place.
He told a local station that the national team call is a dream come true for him.
“I am excited with the call up.
"I have to make the best out of it to stake a claim for a place in the Black Stars’ world cup squad,” Hammond said.
