Defender Sammy Kuffour and Sulley Muntari helped their Italian sides secure progress to the last 16 of the Uefa Cup.

Kuffour was impervious in defence as Roma, continued their excellent form by winning 2-1 against Club Brugge.

The Italians won 4-2 on aggregate.

Sulley Munatri and Udinese took a 3-0 lead to Lens and despite heavy pressure escaped with a 1-0 defeat.

Udinese disappointed in the UEFA champions’ league go through 3-1 on aggregate.

Rapid Bucharest also progressed on a 3-0 aggregate win against Prince Kevin Boateng’s Hertha Berlin.
