Black Stars midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari has been handed a three-game suspension by the disciplinary body of Italy’s Serie A league.

Muntari, who made a return for Udinese in their 1-0 defeat to Juventus saw red on Sunday after just 38 minutes for a second yellow card.

However, TV replays suggest that Muntari appeared to play the ball in a tackle on Pavel Nedved.

Udinese are expected to appeal against the length of the ban but the fact Muntari took off his shirt and threw it at referee Antonio Dattilo is unlikely to endear him to any disciplinary panel.

Muntari missed out of Ghana’s squad for the African Cup of Nations in Egypt due to injury.
