Borrusia Dortmund coach, Bert van Marwijk says his new Ghanaian signing Matthew Amoah shouldn’t have played in the African Cup of Nations.
Amoah who has returned to Dortmund is recuperating from a bruised knee injury picked up at the African Cup of Nations.
Marwijk says Amoah had already complained about knee problems prior to the tournament and had only done basic running practice at Dortmund’s winter camp in Turkey.
"He shouldn´t have played at all in the African Cup due to his injury", the Dortmund coach told a local paper.
The Dortmund coach says Amoah would make his debut next week.
According to Dortmund team doctors, Amoah returned to the club with hyper-extended knee ligament, which requires special rehabilitation.
Amoah, one of Ghana’s two-goal scorers throughout their three group games at the competition suffered the injury during the second match against Senegal.
