Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah is to undergo a scan on Saturday to determine the extent of a right foot injury.
Appiah was hurt during Ghana's 1-0 win over Senegal in an African Nations Cup Group D tie.
Martin Engmann, Ghana's team doctor, said the scan will determine if the Fenerbache star can still play in the tournament.
"He has a right foot injury and we hope the scan will rule out a crack fracture which could keep him out for six weeks," Engmann.
However, the cheering news for Ghana is that Roma defender Sammy Kuffour returned to training on Saturday, after a thigh complaint kept him out of the match against Senegal.
Team officials said he has been advised to play cautiously during training so that the injury does not reoccur.
Ghana play their final group match against Zimbabwe on 31 January.
