Senegal coach Abdoulaye Sarr said his side's passive approach was to blame for their 1-0 African Nations Cup defeat by Ghana on Friday.
"The team did not present any danger to Ghana in the first half. They were badly organised and passive," Sarr told reporters.
Senegal now look likely to need a win over Nigeria in their last Group D match to have any chance of reaching the quarter-finals.
"We just weren't aggressive enough and Ghana won a lot of balls," added Sarr.
"At halftime we re-organised things to take charge of the midfield. It was difficult to control (Ghana captain Stephen) Appiah, he was very mobile."
Sarr brought on Fulham's Pape Bouba Diop to reduce Appiah's influence in the second half.
"In the end, Ghana had more motivation and were more mobile than us. Our team was static, both offensively and defensively," said the Senegal coach.
"We just didn't get to the ball first and it was this that determined the match.
"It's not over but we now have to get the points against Nigeria. It's a game we have to win, that will be our objective."
Senegal's defeat on Friday followed a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in their opening match in Port Said on Monday.
