Nigeria coach, Austin Eguavon, is looking forward to clinching the Super Eagles' third African Nations Cup title in Egypt.
Skipper of the side the last won the title in 1994, Eguaevon is relishing winning the trophy as coach now.
He told a Ghanaian sports station that he is inspired by the confidence being exuded by his team ahead of their opening game on Monday.
Nigeria begin their 2006 Nations Cup campaign with a tough duel with sworn rivals, Ghana at the Port Said Stadium on Monday.
Though he reckons it couldn't get any more difficult than that, Eguavon is positive Nigeria will secure a win.
After a thorough training session on Saturday, Eguaevon said, "I have twenty very good players to challenge for the title.
There's no reason why Nigeria cannot win the title." Captain of the side, Jay Jay Okocha sat out of training for the second day and remains a doubt for Monday's crunch game.
But Eguavon is positive there are equally able substitutes for the role.
"Obviously, it is a big worry. We're hoping he'll be fit by Monday. But we have a lot of players who can replace him," he intimated.
Having missed out on a 2006 World Cup ticket, the Super Eagles are hoping to make amends with the African diadem.
And Eguavon admits there's so much pressure on him to ensure that the team excels.
"We missed out on the World Cup through our own mistake and I know everybody expects a lot from us. But I think we are ready to win the African Cup again."
Often given to pressing the self destruct button, critics of the Super Eagles are wary of any unexpected drama from the Super Eagles.
But Eguavon was cofull of conviction in his assertion that "this Nigeria will shoot its opponent rather than itself in the foot."
