After weeks of negotiations over television rights for the African Cup of Nations, a breakthrough seems to be in sight.
With almost twenty-four hours to the commencement of the three-week fiesta, the television stations say they are on the brink of securing the one million euro rights.
Media reports claim that the four TV networks in the capital, GTV, TV3, Metro TV and TV Africa would share in the payment of 200,000 euros, while some corporate bodies pool together their resources to pay the remainder of the amount.
Ghana sports ministry is presently in a meeting with the heads of the TV stations as well as representatives of the corporate organizations to conclude the deal.
The three major television stations, in Ghana have over the past few weeks struggled to raise the 870,000 euros required to earn the broadcast rights for the tournament.
The confirmation of a deal is expected in the next few hours.
