Despite the two defeats suffered by the Black Stars in recent friendlies, no damage has been done to Ghana’s position on the world ranking table as announced by FIFA today.
Ghana who ended the 2005 football season with the Best Mover accolade from FIFA continue to hold onto their 50th position on the first FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking in 2006.
The forthcoming African Cup of Nations with World Cup finalists Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Tunisia promises to cause a few changes in next month’s FIFA Coca-Cola World Ranking.
Brazil continues to dominate at the top, followed by the Czech Republic and the Netherlands at a respectful distance of 40 points.
No African country made it into the top twenty of the world ranking schedule.
On the African continent, Ghana is placed ninth behind South Africa. Cameroon still top the African table followed by Nigeria and Tunisia in that order.
FIFA took into account only twenty-one matches – 17 from 2005 and four this year –for the first FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking in 2006.
