Former Ghana captain Abedi Pele says there is no cause for alarm despite the team’s loss to Tunisia yesterday.
The Black Stars went unbeaten throughout the entire 2005 football season but have lost twice in five days in January as the build up to the Africa Cup of Nations heats up.
Yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles has raised eyebrows about the Black Stars’ preparedness to win a historic fifth African Cup of Nations title.
Abedi Ayew Pele however believes Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic has some time to work on his team before the competition gets underway on Friday.
“When you look at the game and you analyze, I think the coach has a lot, if he has seen all these things then he has to start working these few days, he has to start practicing the set pieces because you don’t need strikers before you score goals. We were having a lot problems,” the celebrated Ghanaian player told Joy Sports.
“For me it’s not too late, friendly matches are being played for you to see all these mistakes and correct them during the matches. This is just a wake up call,“ Abedi said.
The Black Stars lost their first friendly 1-0 to Togo on Wednesday in the Tunisian town of Monastir.
Ghana open their Nations Cup campaign against Group D opponents Nigeria on 23 January before games against Senegal and Zimbabwe.
