Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan, has undergone a successful surgery on his injured right knee.
The one hour-long surgery on Wednesday that repaired the torn knee ligament would keep the Modena striker off the field for a maximum of 30 days.
Gyan has therefore been ruled out of the Egypt Nations Cup, which would have been his debut at that level.
The 22-year old striker left the Stars camp in Tunis last Friday for Italy, after doctors at his club and the Ghanaian technical team decided it was more prudent for him to receive treatment in Italy.
Coach Ratomir Dujkovic has decided not to name a replacement for Gyan as he did for injured midfielders Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari.
