Ghana has reportedly had to delay her final team list for the 2006 African Cup of Nations because of a new injury concern in camp.
Though the deadline for the submission of final squads elapsed yesterday, a minor injury to defender, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, compelled Black Stars coach, Ratomir Dujkovic, to stall a little in naming his soldiers for the continental battle.
If it becomes apparent that Kuffuor cannot play as a result of the injury, Dujkovic would have to call up a replacement for him.
Another player, Matthew Amoah, is struggling to regain full fitness hence, the decision to delay the final team list.
The injury worries notwithstanding, team doctor, Martin Engmann, told a local radio station that there is no cause for panic.
He was optimistic the team will be fit and ready when the competition kicks off next week.
According to the Confederation of African Football’s rules, Ghana will pay a $3000 fine for the delay.
The rules of the competition further states that if Ghana fails to send its complete list of players by the 13th it will have the right to the registration of only 20 players.
Black Stars coach, Ratomir Dujkovic was expected to submit his 23-man squad yesterday.
