It is becoming increasingly clear that Ghanaian football fans may be denied the joy of watching the 2006 African Nations Cup live on TV.
The nation’s three top television stations – GTV, TV3 and Metro TV- are still grappling with the difficulty of raising as much as 870,000 euros to secure the broadcast rights for the continent’s most prestigious sporting event.
Though negotiations are still going on, Beninois firm, LC 2 Media organization, is adamant about accepting the 500,000 euro payment proposed by the Ghanaian media houses.
Moreover, any hope of assistance from the state is now dwindling as government is already reeling under the heavy financial burden of camping the Black Stars in Tunis in preparation for the tournament.
Unless they get support from some corporate entities, the TV stations cannot show the matches as expected.
