The acting chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi, says Ghana would welcome any group it finds itself in when the draw for the 2006 World Cup is conducted today in Leipzig.
Kwasi Nyantakyi stated that the World Cup is an assembly of great soccer nations and it would be a good opportunity to play any of the nations.
“We would welcome any group we are placed in. We are not dreaming about any possible group that would suit us. Playing at this level puts you up against tough opponents.
“Remember Cameroon beat Argentina and also at the last World Cup Senegal stunned the defending champions, France. It tells you anything can happen.”
Kwasi Nyantakyi and his general secretary, Kofi Nsiah, with other members of the football association have been joined in Leipzig by Black Stars coach, Ratomir Dujkovic for the draw.
Ghana have been placed in Pool Two by FIFA's World Cup Organizing Committee ahead of Friday’s draw for next year’s World Cup in Germany.
The Black Stars are in the same pool as four other first timers- Australia, Angola, Ivory Coast, Togo- as well as Tunisia, Ecuador and Paraguay.
The Black Stars thus stand the chance of being in the same group as Germany, holders Brazil as well as Argentina, France, Italy, England, Spain and Mexico who make the top tier at the draw on toay.
