Ghana and world champions, Brazil after putting up good performances in the year have picked up FIFA’s annual world ranking awards.
Ghana has been decorated by the world soccer governing body with the Best Mover of the Year title.
The Black Stars, who have qualified for their first World Cup, moved up 27 places.
The surge by the Stars has gained them 80 points.
Ghana will be presented with the award at the Fifa World Player Gala in Zurich on Monday.
Ghana shook off competition from Ethiopia and Togo to clinch the title after putting up an impressive showing in 2005.
The Black Stars have gone fourteen games unbeaten in this year and presently occupy the fiftieth position on the world-ranking table ahead of tomorrows ranking release.
Ghana, one of Africa’s five representatives at next year’s world cup are expected to finish in the forties on the ranking table before the year ends.
Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah told the BBC Sport that it is a great joy for the nation.
"To be given this award by Fifa, is a great joy for the people of Ghana,"
"This award is big encouragement for us to work harder at next year's African Nations Cup and the World Cup."
“We thank our coach who has been very instrumental in our successes this year by bringing the much-needed discipline into the squad," Appiah said. For the fourth year in a row, world champions, Brazil take the Top Team title after finishing the year at the top of the table and 44 points clear of their nearest competitor, a position they resiliently held on to for the entire year.
Trinidad and Tobago were the most active team in 2005, contesting 28 matches.
