Ghana’s national under-20 team, the Black Satellites, are still awaiting a call from Nigeria to find out whether the West African Football Union tournament will come off as scheduled.
The WAFU competition is expected to begin on tomorrow, yet the Satellites have not received the go ahead from the Nigerian FA to emplane for the host city, Abuja.
The team was ready to leave Accra on Monday but have since had to shelve the trip until they receive an official invite from the hosts.
The WAFU tournament is in commemoration of the Economic Community of West African States’ 30th anniversary.
The Ministry of Education of Sports through the Ghana Football Association has written to the ECOWAS Secretariat, organisers of the tournament, to confirm the date for the final phase of the event.
The Black Satellites would participating in the final leg of the WAFU Cup soccer tournament in Abuja.
Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire, The Gambia and host Nigeria were scheduled to have honoured the tournament from November 21-24.
