Black Stars coach Ratomir Dujkovic says playing against Saudi Arabia was a very useful team building exercise for him.
The Black Stars recorded a resounding 3-1 win over their Arabian opponents in Jeddah yesterday. The match was the first of a few preparatory matches Ghana plans to play ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Dujkovic said the match afforded him the chance to assess some new players as well as others who were not regular members of the team during the World Cup qualification series.
“I am very satisfied and even though we played without five players. We did well and we are on the way.
“It was very important for us because it is our first game after our qualification and first in the row.
“We have to play and prepare our team for the CAN and World Cup and we accepted this invitation from Saudi Arabia because we know they are strong, they are world cup qualifiers and that is the reason we accepted this match,” Dujkovic said.
Black Stars forward Godwin Attram also said it was refreshing to play alongside some former members of the team.
The Black Stars continued their unbeaten run after defeating Saudi Arabia 3-1 in an international friendly match in Jeddah yesterday.
The Saudi’s took the lead in the 36th minute N.A. Temyat who struck from forty yards to beat Ghana goalkeeper, George Owo.
The Black Stars fought from a goal down to assume a 2-1 lead before recess.
Udinese attacker, Sulley Muntari put Ghana at par in the 41st minute after looping the ball over the advancing Saudi goalkeeper before Modena striker, Asamoah Gyan increased the tally to two on the stroke of halftime.
Back from recess, Gyan completed the victory for Ghana with another strike in the 72nd minute.
The match is the first of a few preparatory matches arranged for the Stars ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations.
