Ghana’s Black Stars today continued their unbeaten run after defeating Saudi Arabia 3-1 in an international friendly match in Jeddah.
The Saudi’s took the lead in the 36th minute N.A. Temyat who struck from forty yards to beat Ghana goalkeeper, George Owo.
The Black Stars fought from a goal down to assume a 2-1 lead before recess.
Udinese attacker, Sulley Muntari put Ghana at par in the 41st minute after looping the ball over the advancing Saudi goalkeeper before Modena striker, Asamoah Gyan increased the tally to two on the stroke of halftime.
Back from recess, Gyan completed the victory for Ghana with another strike in the 72nd minute.
The match is the first of a few preparatory matches arranged for the Stars ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations.
AS Roma defender, Samuel Osei Kuffour who made a return to the national team after a seven-month lay-off played the full ninety minutes but it was John Mensah who led the team against Saudi Arabia.
Ghana played without Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien and captain Stephen Appiah.
The Black Stars unveiled their new Puma jersey’s for the game.
Ghana are expected to finish the year unbeaten and improve their position on the FIFA world ranking table for this month.
