The Ghana Football Association says the recall of Samuel Osei Kuffuor to the Black Stars is the first step towards ensuring that the nation has varied options for the formation of a winsome side ahead of next year’s World Cup in Germany.
Osei Kufuor is one of the nineteen players invited by Black Stars coach, Ratomir Dujkovic, for Ghana’s international friendly game against Saudi Arabia next month.
The defender who now plays for Italian club, AS Roma, missed the second round of Ghana’s world cup qualification campaign because of a protracted impasse with Dujkovic.
The acting chairman of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, told Joy Sports that the Serbian coach has demonstrated his readiness to give as many players as possible the opportunity to earn places in the Black Stars.
"This is a sign of goodwill from Dujkovic. He has demonstrated by this that he is prepared to give everyone a chance but Kuffuor will have to prove, like every player that he deserves to wear the Ghana jersey on merit", Nyantakyi said.
