Former national team star, Tony Yeboah says nothing but thorough preparations will suffice for the Black Stars campaign in Egypt 2006.
Ghana face Senegal’s Teranga Lions and age-old rivals Nigeria in Group D of next year’s African Nations Cup.
Yeboah, like many connoisseurs of the game, believes Egypt will be the real aptitude test for the Stars who are gearing up for Germany 2006.
And he advises, “We need to camp the players very early so they can learn to play well as a team.”
"The GFA must motivate the players to give off their very best as they did during the World Cup qualifiers,” he told AllSports, a weekly sports paper.
The one-time goal poacher of the Black Stars posits, “Senegal and Nigeria have both been to the world cup before but have missed out on the 2006 edition. They are very hungry and will come all out against us.”
He is however upbeat about the Black Stars ability to survive the group.
“If we come out tops from the group in Egypt it will mean we’re ready for Germany,” he stated.
