Football’s world governing body, FIFA, has congratulated Ghana's Black Stars on their historic qualification to the World Cup finals in Germany 2006. In an official statement to the Ghanaian federation, FIFA president, Joseph S. Blatter, said, "considering this historical achievement of the Black Stars, a first ever qualification to the football flagship, it is my pleasure and my duty as the FIFA President to extend my warmest congratulations to the Ghana Football Association (GFA)".
According to the FIFA statement copied to the Ghana Football Association and to the Confederation of African Football, Blatter said, "Allow me therefore to ask you to convey my congratulations to all the players, coach Ratomir Dujkovic and the whole technical staff as well as Ghanaians for their achievement".
Ghana completed her historic 2006 world cup qualification campaign with a 4-0 victory over Cape Verde in Praia.
