Ghana’s national women U-20 team, Black Princesses were held to a 1-1 drawn game in the first of their two-game international friendly with their South African counterparts at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium today.
The Bayana Bayana dominated the open half, scoring the opener in the 40th minutes by Janine Van Wyk.
Van Wyk converted a set piece that caught Ghana’s goalkeeper Gladys Quansah wrong footed after she went behind the defence of the host team.
The South Africans ended the first half 1-0 up.
Back from recess, the Ghanaians improved their game and played with much urgency.
And three minutes into the second half got he equalizer.
Black Princesses attacker, Diana Amankwah took advantage of a defensive lapse between South African goalkeeper Mandy De Arajo and her defense to hit the ball into the post.
But the game was ended even before regulation time due to poor visibility.
Both teams are scheduled to meet again on Sunday to end their two-game series.
