The Black Stars of Ghana have been drawn in group D alongside West African rivals, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Senegal for next year’s African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Egypt.
Nigeria who failed to secure qualification the world cup are ranked as the top seed in group D which has three West African nations with the exclusion of Zimbabwe.
The draws for the group stages of next year's African Cup of Nations took place at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt tonight.
The Black Stars who were seeded, as a third tier nation ahead of tonight’s draw would thus renew their rivalry with Nigeria’s Super Eagles when they play in the group’s opening game.
Ghana, Egypt and Cameroon will be seeking their fifth continental titles after having won four competitions each.
The Black Stars won their four Nations Cup titles in 1963, 1965,1978 and 1982.
All five African world cup participants, Ghana, Tunisia, Ivory Coast are placed in different groups with the exception of Togo and Angola who are both locked up in the group A.
Host, Egypt are seeded in group A together with Libya, Ivory Coast and Morocco.
Egypt will face Libya in the opening game of the competition.
In group C, defending champions, Tunisia are holed up in group C with Zambia, Guinea and South Africa.
While Cameroon, who also missed out of the world cup are ranked as the top seeds in group B with two world cup qualifiers, Angola and Togo alongside DR Congo.
Tunisia would be defending the trophy won at the last edition of the competition when the sixteen nations vie for honours beginning January 20 until February 10 next year.
