The referees association of Ghana has decried attempts by Kumasi Asante Kotoko to shred the credibility of FIFA referee William Agbovi.

The Suhum-based referee has come under scathing criticisms by Kotoko for certain officiating decisions he took during a premier league meeting between the two sides in Accra last Sunday.

Kotoko have since issued an official statement accusing the match official of open bias for their archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak in that ill tempered clash.

The chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana, L.O Laryea, says Agbovi is a referee of international repute whose credibility cannot be questioned.

Laryea told Joy Sports that the Referees Appointment Committee, responsible for the appointment of referees for the premiership, will not be cowered by these accusations from the big clubs.
