As the Premier league returns today, the Ghana Football Association has reiterated its desire to stem the tide of increasing violence at the league centres with huge fines and home bans.
Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs’ problems in the league have been worsened with a three match home ban and a fifteen million cedis.
Lying bottom of the 16-club league table, Dwarfs have been punished for the violent conduct of their fans after the league match against Kpando Heart of Lions.
Mr Abra Appiah, the chairman of the professional league board, the body mandated to organise the premier league has told Joy Sports the heavy nature of the fines and bans involved should serve as deterrent for any would be offenders.
“I think the disciplinary committee has been slow in coming out with its judgements but notwithstanding, this actions would stem the tide of violence at some centres.
Also, Kumasi Asante Kotoko's defender, Aziz Ansah was been handed a four-match ban by the disciplinary committee of the Ghana Football Association.
Aziz Ansah attacked Ebusua Dwarfs striker Ekow Ghnasah after their premier league match at the Robert Mensah stadium in Cape Coast some weeks ago.
Ghnansah was also been banned for three premier league matches on charges of ‘misleading the Disciplinary committee.’
